Multi Purpose Polymer Bonding Agent
DESCRIPTION
General purpose PVA adhesive for concrete and mortar based on polymerised resins, white milky, water based emulsion of medium viscosity, which dries to a transparent film.
USES
Bonding agent for concrete, mortar and ceramic tile.
ADVANTAGES
- Increases adhesion in cementitious mixes
- Giving better workability
- Easy to dilute and apply
- Reduces porosity and cracking in cement mortar.
DOSAGE
Added to the mixing water within the range 1:1 to 1:3, depending on type of application.
INSTRUCTION FOR USE
The substrate must be sound, clean and free of dust and loose particles.
All cement laitance, oil, grease, dirt, etc. must be removed by using wire brush or other method.
APPLICATION
Bonding of new concrete to old concrete
All the old concrete surfaces should be saturated with water.
Apply bonding coat by mixing cement with solution of 1 part of Deltabond PVA and 1 part of water, into a slurry consistency, and then lay the new concrete while the bonding is still tacky.
As a cement mortar rendering
Seal the surface and prime with slurry of solution of Deltabond PVA and water of 1:1 mixed with cement.
Then plaster or render while the bonding still tacky.
Suggested mixes for:
Rendering for rough coat (thickness 10-30 mm)
Mix cement and clean sand of 1:3 proportions, gauged to a stiff consistency with Deltabond PVA and water of 1:1 proportion solution.
Rendering for finishing coat (thickness 0-3 mm)
Mix cement with solution of Deltabond PVA and water of 1:1 proportions, to a trowelable consistency
As a bonding agent for ceramic tile
Dampen the substrate as well as the tiles.
Apply a solution of Deltabond PVA and water of 1:2 proportions to the damp substrate and to the back of the tiles and allow to become tacky, then plaster the tile with mortar which has been treated with Deltabond PVA as the required thickness above and firmly press to the floor or wall to ensure full contact.
LIMITATIONS AND PRECAUTIONS
Do not use Deltabond PVA as bonding coat without adding cement.
Avoid contact with skin or eyes; any contamination should be washed immediately with plenty of water.
Gloves and protective clothing are recommended.
